Allendale Brewery

Started only two years ago, Allendale Brewery is rapidly becoming well known in the North East for its popular Real Ales, named after local birds and Allendale events. There are 5 main ales – Allendale Best Bitter, Curlews Return, Golden Plover, Black Grouse, Tar Barrel Stout and Allendale Wolf. These are available at a wide range of establishments throughout the North East and Hexham Farmers Market every month.
The brewery is situated between Allendale and Catton on the historic Allen Mill site, a picturesque site on the banks of the river Allen. Brewery tours and tastings are welcome by appointment and can include a meal at the local Allendale Ale ‘tap’, the Crown at Catton.
Head brewer, Tom Hick, brews in the traditional way using local malt from Northumberland farms. Strict attention to detail and a passion for the beer are guarantees of a perfect pint from the Pennines’ every time.
