Northumberland's artists

Painting by Mary-Ann Rogers. Why not take a trip to her studio/gallery to see more of her work?We cannot keep them out, or stop them! Artists! For some reason, the long horizons and diverse landscapes of Northumberland provide the subjects, sources, studios and inspiration they require!

Fortunately for us, they don't just do it for themselves and many open their doors every Sunday in June and July as are part of Northumberland’s very own Art Tour. Such names as Mary Ann Rogers, whose bright-eyed hares and hens are made in Redesdale, and Peter Podmore who regularly transforms and exports the beauties of the landscapes of Kirknewton.

Helen Grierson at work with some of her fabulous glass creations.Every art and craft is here – in fact, the list is long and impressive and includesphotographers such as Brian Waters, jewellery makers like Stephanie Summerhill, textile designers such as Rhiannon Robinson, and the appropriately named potter, Elaine Clay.

Find their outlets in towns and villages - Lynda & Graham Taylor's Crown Studio Art Gallery, Rothbury, The Coquetdale Art Gallery, also Rothbury, Breeze in Wooler, the Sallyport Gallery in Berwick-upon-Tweed, Tallantyre’s of Morpeth, and the Tynedale Gallery in Hexham.
